Switchman in the snow
1950s
Snow is falling hard enough to blur the far end of the street. A switchman in a hooded oilskin cape leans on an iron bar set into the tram rail, changing the points by hand. Tram 34 waits behind him with its bow collector raised, and the pedestrians keep to the pavement.
