The Menrath palace is one of the few Art Nouveau buildings in Novi Sad, put up in 1908 to a design by Lipót Baumhorn, the Budapest architect who also built the city's synagogue. It was raised for the merchant Josef Menrath and has kept his name since. Serbian surveys of Secession architecture list it alongside the Tomin palace of 1909, also by Baumhorn, and the Adamović palace of 1911 as the principal works of that manner in the city, which produced far fewer of them than Subotica did.
